Viggo Mortensen, who portrayed Hopkins, bonded closely with RH Tecontender (TJ) and later adopted him. The Young Black Stallion (2003), directed by Simon Wincer, is a Disney IMAX drama and a prequel to The Black Stallion(1979). It follows Neera, a girl lost in the desert who befriends a black Arabian colt, Shetan. Rescued by Shetan, she later trains him for a race to save her grandfather’s horse farm. The film, based on Walter and Steven Farley’s novel, premiered on December 25, 2003. Praised for its cinematography, it received mixed reviews for its dialogue and acting but remains a visually stunning addition to the series.

Pie, the chestnut stallion who starred alongside James Stewart in 17 Westerns, became one of the most reliable equine actors in Hollywood. 6. Blanco: The Majestic Steed of The Lord of the Rings

Blanco, a thoroughbred cross gelding, was one of two horses that portrayed Shadowfax, Gandalf’s legendary steed in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Known as the Lord of all horses in Middle-earth, Shadowfax was depicted as an intelligent and untamed creature, carrying Gandalf without harness or bridle. Owned by Cynthia Royal, Blanco was trained to respond solely to leg cues and off-screen signals, a testament to his exceptional training and temperament. Aside from The Lord of the Rings, Blanco appeared in commercials, the 2013 documentary Horse Medicine, and had a regular role in the TV series Hercules. Sadly, he passed away on April 6, 2014, after battling an acute intestinal illness, but his legacy as Shadowfax endures in cinematic history.
